CDS Analytical announces an addition to the 5000 family of Pyrolysis Instrumentation. The new 5200 is a reactant gas pyrolysis instrument which includes a built-in analytical trap. The trap can be used to aid in pyrolyzing samples in air off-line which will prevent air from entering into the GC columns or MS detector. After pyrolyzing, the trap is automatically heated and the sample is then sent to the GC for analysis. The 5200 can also be used as a stand-alone thermal desorption instrument. Like the 5000, the 5200 is fully programmable in 1 °C increments up to 1400 °C and allows up to 8-step programming for each sample run. This 8-step programming allows the user to look for volatiles at several temperature ranges before pyrolyzing the remaining polymer. Optional accessories include new-easy loading sample probes, FTIR interface, direct MS probe and polymer identification library.
