Automatic quantification of bacteria
The norm V08-100 is an official method for the counting process of bacteria according to the AFNOR and described by the AOAC. The automated process with the Spiral® has become a method of reference in very different fields of applications like microbiology of foods, in medicine, bacteriology, food ingredients and cosmetics. The savings in consumables like plates, Petri dishes, agar and pipettes, is considerable and the savings in time and manual labor reaches some 75 % in comparison with a manual operation. In many cases the individual counting requires a dilution, up to three times, which is not necessary with the Spiral. The system allows the determination of 30 to 10 Mio CFU/mL, without the need of a dilution. And, it offers a faster analytical cycle. Since the process is completely automated, it also reduces the risk of cross-contamination and possible errors during the handling. The system delivers a complete documentation with a traceability of the individual operations. The documentation and the values may be exported to the usual formats, like Excel.
