Separate Clodronate from its esters
Separate Clodronate from its esters
In a recently published paper by R.Niemi et.al in J.Chromatogr., the separation of clodornate ant its partial ester derivative was described. The paper with the title "Simultaneous determination of clodronate and its partial ester derivatives by ion-pair reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography coupled with evaporative light scattering detection". For this separation the reversed phase technology in HPLC was applied. The column was packed with Kromasil 100 Å, and as an eluent MeOH:ammonium acetate buffer was used. A gradient of methanol from 3 % to 40-60 % was found to be functional. For detection a MS-ELS system was applied, which was able to separate clodronate from clodronate phenylester.
