Thermo Fisher Scientific Introduces Automated Liquid Handling Workstation
Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc., the world leader in serving science, has introduced the Thermo Scientific Matrix PlateMate® 2x3, an automated liquid handling workstation designed to perform low-volume dispensing procedures. With the ability to dispense volumes from 0.1 to 300 µl, high quality data is ensured through the accurate pipetting of sub-microliter volumes. The PlateMate® 2x3 is available in two different models; the stand-alone workstation that operates independently of other processes, or the robotic-friendly platform that is easily integrated into larger automated systems. Furthermore, use of this liquid handling workstation enables laboratories to minimize reagent consumption and thus any associated costs.

With a versatile 6-position deck, the PlateMate 2x3 is able to automate plate-to-plate transfers, plate reformatting and serial dilutions. Its unique capabilities make it compatible with a wide range of applications, including vacuum extraction or filtration as well as thermally controlled procedures. Compatible with air or positive displacement technology, this flexible system facilitates precise sample preparation. As such, the positive displacement pipetting head is able to accurately dispense low viscosity substances, including DMSO. When used in combination with the Thermo Scientific PocketTip D.A.R.T.s, volumes as low as 50 nL can be pipetted with confidence.

The PlateMate series of automated liquid handling platforms is designed to perform a variety of sample preparation tasks, providing additional value to almost any laboratory
